Project description:

A modern thatched-roof extension to a Grade II listed cottage in, Bristol. The ground floor extension enhances the living space while maintaining the character of the historic home.

The project also includes a new outdoor swimming pool, pool house, and canopy, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. Sustainable features such as woodfibre insulation, a traditional thatched roof, and lime plaster ensure a balance of energy efficiency and heritage preservation.

Project description:

This three-story side extension in a conservation area replaced an existing garage to create a larger kitchen, utility space, and additional bedrooms with improved proportions. A key priority was enhancing the connection between the rear of the house and the garden, resulting in a design that features a large raised deck and a modern standing seam roof. The transformation not only makes the home more visually appealing and functional but also provides a spacious, well-designed kitchen and entertaining area that perfectly meets the clients' lifestyle needs.

Unique interior features include a feature internal balcony, bespoke woodwork, and a polished concrete floor, creating a modern yet playful aesthetic. The result is a functional, spacious home tailored to the clients’ vision of creativity, openness, and connection to the outdoors.

"A great service. We used Angus Design to turn our 2-bed bungalow into a 5-bed house. After some false starts with other design firms we were very pleased to find James who delivered a good balance between design, construction practicalities and cost control. Definitely recommended."
